BandPulse Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information BandPulse handles, why, who receives it, and the choices you have. BandPulse is a rhythm game. It has no accounts, no login, no chat, no user-generated content, no in-app purchases and no servers of our own. It is free and shows advertising, and that advertising involves the collection of some data from your device, described below.
Which ad service your copy uses depends on where you downloaded it. Each version contains only one ad service:
- Apple App Store (iPhone, iPad) and Google Play (Android): Google AdMob, see section 2a;
- HUAWEI AppGallery (Android): HUAWEI Ads (Petal Ads), see section 2b. This version contains no Google ad SDK.
1. Information stored only on your device
BandPulse saves your game progress in a file in the app's private storage on your device. This file contains:
- scores, stars, accuracy, combos and play counts per song and level;
- coins, experience points, unlocked songs, skins and themes, and a short history of recent coin rewards;
- mission, daily calendar and tutorial progress;
- your settings (volume, note speed, audio offset, vibration, visual effects, accessibility options).
This file is not sent to us or to anyone else by BandPulse. We have no copy of it. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data, and you can reset progress from the game's settings. Your device's own backup service (for example Android backup or iCloud device backup) may include app data according to your device settings; that is controlled by you and your platform provider, not by us.
The audio-latency calibration measures the timing of your screen taps on the device. BandPulse does not use the microphone or camera, and does not request location, contacts, photos/storage or phone permissions. Vibration is used only for short haptic feedback and can be switched off in Settings. On Android, BandPulse uses the internet and network/Wi-Fi state permissions, which the ad service needs to load ads; the game itself plays offline.
2. Advertising
In every version the ads are the same kind and appear in the same places: a banner on menu screens (never during a song), an occasional full-screen ad between songs, and optional "rewarded" ads you choose to watch for in-game coins. There are no ads when the app opens. The ad service in your version collects data from your device, as described below for each service. We (the developer) do not receive this data in a form that identifies you; we see only aggregated reports (for example the number of ads shown) in our ad accounts.
2a. Google AdMob (App Store and Google Play versions)
These versions show ads from Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To request, show, measure and protect ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects data from your device and shares it with Google. According to Google's own disclosures, this includes:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate the general (approximate) location of your device;
- Device and advertising identifiers: on Android, the Android advertising ID and the app set ID; on iOS, the advertising identifier (IDFA, only if you allow tracking, see section 4) and other app- or developer-scoped identifiers;
- Product interaction data: for example app launches, taps and ad/video views;
- Advertising data: for example which ads you have seen;
- Diagnostic and performance information: for example app launch time, hang rate, energy usage and crash logs relating to the SDK.
Google uses this data for advertising (including, where you have allowed it, personalized ads), ad measurement and analytics, and fraud and abuse prevention. Google states that this data is encrypted in transit.
Google's processing is governed by Google's own policies:
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses data for advertising

2b. HUAWEI Ads / Petal Ads (HUAWEI AppGallery version)
The version downloaded from HUAWEI AppGallery shows ads from HUAWEI Ads (Petal Ads) using the HUAWEI Ads Kit SDK, instead of Google AdMob. This version only requests non-personalized ads: ads are chosen from the context (for example the app and the type of ad slot), not from a profile of your interests or your history. BandPulse also asks for ads suitable for all ages.
To request, show, measure and protect these ads, the HUAWEI Ads Kit SDK processes the following data and sends it to Huawei. This list comes from Huawei's Data Protection Information About Ads Kit:
- app information (such as the app name and version, and usage duration and frequency) and contextual information about the ad request;
- your device's advertising identifier (on Huawei devices, the OAID);
- ad and campaign identifiers;
- IP address;
- device information (such as brand and model), app installation information (for example, so you aren't shown ads for apps you already have), operating system information, network type and carrier information;
- your interactions with ads (such as views, clicks, plays and downloads);
- a consent string recording your ad preferences, where one is used.
BandPulse does not request location permission, so the SDK receives no location data from BandPulse. In the AppGallery version we have also removed the "query all installed apps" and "install other apps" permissions that the Huawei SDK would otherwise add.
For this processing, Aspiegel SE (a Huawei company registered in Ireland) is the data controller for Petal Ads; Huawei states that this data is stored in Germany. Huawei's processing, including how long it keeps the data, is described in the Statement About Petal Ads and Privacy. Petal Ads can pass ad requests to other ad technology providers it works with; where consent applies, BandPulse's consent message lists the providers Huawei reports for your region. Some ad content (such as images or videos) may be downloaded over unencrypted connections, as Huawei's ad service requires.
3. Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland) and US state privacy choices
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, BandPulse asks for your choice before any ads are requested:
- App Store and Google Play versions: BandPulse uses Google's User Messaging Platform (a Google consent management tool). You can choose whether your data may be used for personalized advertising and for storing or accessing information on your device. If you do not consent to personalized ads, Google may still show non-personalized or limited ads, which still require some data processing (for example for frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement).
- AppGallery version: BandPulse uses HUAWEI's Consent SDK to tell whether you are in one of these regions; this check contacts Huawei but does not start the ad SDK (if it can't be completed, BandPulse uses your device's country). Huawei may also ask for consent in other regions, in which case you see the same message. If you are, BandPulse shows an "Ads and your privacy" message before the HUAWEI Ads SDK is started. If you choose Allow ads, non-personalized HUAWEI ads are shown. If you choose No ads, the HUAWEI Ads SDK is not started and BandPulse shows no ads at all (the optional ad rewards are then unavailable; the rest of the game is the same). Your choice is stored only on your device.
Change your choice at any time: open Settings ▸ Ad privacy options in BandPulse. This button appears wherever a privacy choice applies.
Depending on where you live in the United States, you may have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or of targeted advertising. Where Google's tools support it in your state, a privacy message or the Ad privacy options entry lets you opt out. You can also contact us at the address below.
4. Your device controls
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device settings (on most devices: Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Ads, or Settings ▸ Google ▸ Ads).
- Huawei devices: you can reset your advertising ID (OAID) or turn off personalized ads in your device settings (on most Huawei devices: Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Ads and privacy).
- iOS / iPadOS: BandPulse can access the advertising identifier only if you allow it in the "Allow tracking" prompt. You can change this at any time in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking. If tracking is not allowed, ads are still shown but the advertising identifier is not sent.
- You can manage Google ad personalization at My Ad Center.
- Uninstalling BandPulse stops all collection by the app and the ad SDK.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it, except that the ad SDK in your version of BandPulse sends the data described in section 2 directly to Google (App Store and Google Play versions) or to Huawei / Aspiegel SE (AppGallery version), and, through their ad systems, to the advertisers and ad technology partners they work with, as described in their policies. Advertisers on Petal Ads may use tracking links that record ad clicks and downloads. Some US state laws may treat targeted advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; see section 3 for your choices. We may disclose information if required by law.
6. Retention
- Game data stays on your device until you reset progress, clear app data or uninstall the app.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's retention policies (App Store and Google Play versions), or by Huawei according to the Statement About Petal Ads and Privacy (AppGallery version). We do not hold copies.
- Your ad privacy choice in the AppGallery version is stored on your device until you change it, clear app data or uninstall.
- If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to answer it.
7. Children
BandPulse has an all-ages content rating, but it is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are requested as suitable for all ages, and the AppGallery version requests non-personalized ads only. If you believe a child has used BandPulse and that data has been collected through ads, contact us at maani1pk@gmail.com and we will help, including by explaining how to reset the device advertising ID or delete app data.
8. Your rights and legal bases
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale"/"sharing" of personal information, without being discriminated against for using these rights.
Because BandPulse has no accounts and we do not receive identifiable data, we usually cannot link any data to you. In practice:
- your game data can be deleted by you directly (reset progress, clear app data, or uninstall);
- ad consent can be withdrawn in Settings ▸ Ad privacy options;
- requests about data held by Google can be made through Google's tools described in the Google Privacy Policy;
- requests about data held by Huawei can be made through the contact options in the Statement About Petal Ads and Privacy;
- you can contact us at maani1pk@gmail.com with any request and we will respond within the time the law requires.
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Where GDPR applies, the legal basis for ad processing is your consent (personalized ads, and storing or reading information such as the advertising identifier on your device) and our legitimate interest in funding a free game with ads and preventing fraud (non-personalized/limited ads), as permitted by law. In the AppGallery version, users in these regions are only shown ads after choosing Allow ads (see section 3).
9. International transfers
We are based in Pakistan, and the ad services are run by companies in other countries. Data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK may be processed by Google in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards described in the Google Privacy Policy. Data collected by the HUAWEI Ads Kit SDK is handled by Aspiegel SE (Ireland) and, according to Huawei, stored in Germany; see the Statement About Petal Ads and Privacy. We do not receive or store your personal data ourselves, other than emails you send us.
10. Security
Game data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot normally read. Google states that data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is sent to Google over encrypted connections; in the AppGallery version, some ad content may be loaded over unencrypted connections, as described in section 2b. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but BandPulse keeps the data it handles to a minimum.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy (for example if we add new features or services that handle data), we will update this page and the effective date above, and, where required, ask for your consent again.
